The Thirdwork Review | October 2022

Gavin here, founder of Thirdwork. Welcome to our first monthly issue of The Thirdwork Review.
We started Thirdwork not by building, but by listening. We talked to 100+ web3 startups, and kept hearing about the same hiring challenges.
“Hiring in crypto is so fragmented”. “Finding talented people is like a needle in a haystack.” “I think we might have interviewed a North Korean hacker.”
So we asked the question: what if there were an Upwork, but only for crypto startups to hire vetted, trusted, crypto-native talent? It resonated, and Thirdwork was born.
We're on a mission to be the engine powering work in a web3 world. Over the past few months, we’ve grown quickly, and helped startups like Rabbithole, Afterparty and others that have raised over $500M backed by leading investors. We're just getting started, so if you're receiving this: thank you for being an important part of our journey!
⚡️October Highlights
38 new freelance builders off the waitlist. We're keeping the quality bar high (fewer than 6% of applicants accepted), but we welcomed new marketing, growth, and design talent to the community. (Check out our interview with Neesh, a designer and Thirdwork Founding Member.)
Portfolio Reviews. As part of our community mentorship program, I hosted a series of portfolio review sessions with Thirdwork applicants on how they can make their web3 resume stand out. If you’re a builder and would like a 1-on-1 session, DM us on Twitter.
Job Description Templates. A compelling job description can mean the difference between attracting a top candidate and losing out. We compiled a set of templates to help hiring teams create high-quality job descriptions.
Writers Spotlight. Talented writers are in high demand at crypto startups. We launched our writers spotlight series, where we give up-and-coming writers a chance to talk about their work in web3. Check out the latest piece on how to become a web3 ghostwriter.
🚀 Best Places to Work in Web3
Let’s face it, web3 is complicated, and working in crypto often feels like the wild west. That’s why we are pulling back the curtain and compiling our ranking of the 15 Best Places to Work in Web3.
We’re rolling out the rankings at the end of the year, with a set of rewards for the most-nominated projects.
