💻 Freelancer F&*ckups - What are the most common pitfalls?
Not setting boundaries: It can be easy for freelancers to blur the lines between work and personal time, especially working from home. It's important to set clear boundaries to avoid burnout and ensure you are delivering quality work.
Underestimating the value of their time: Many struggle to charge enough for their services, either because they are new to freelancing or because they don't want to risk missing out on clients by charging too much. But undervaluing your time can lead to financial insecurity and stress.
No clear focus: Freelancers may take on a wide range of projects to try to make ends meet, but spreading oneself too thin can lead to a lack of focus and reduced quality of work. It's important to have a clear focus to build a strong reputation and attract the right clients.
Failing to plan for the future: Freelancers often live project to project, but it's important to actively build a client pipeline, have a long-term plan and set aside money for taxes and emergencies.
Not building a strong network: Freelancers often rely on word-of-mouth and their own marketing efforts to find new clients. Actively creating a strong network of contacts can help freelancers find new opportunities and grow their business.
